YOU WILL HAVE THIS FOREVER

A FILM BY ALLEGRA LEVY

On her birthday, Greta is offered something she thought she’d never want: a serious relationship.

This film is about shifting perspectives, personal growth – even humor. It will travel the full spectrum of emotions: the thrill of lust, the misery of loss, the labor of humility, and at the end of it, hope. But, most of all, it’s a story about love, in which the people who stand by us at our lowest points are the heroes.

MISSION STATEMENT
SO HERE'S THE SITCH...

Our $6,000 goal is the minimum we need to raise in order to go into production. This cost will go towards paying our team, insurance fees, camera gear and prop rentals, and feeding our cast and crew.

THE LONG AND THE SHORT OF IT...

This story follows Greta on her 26th birthday. Deeply attached to her freedom, she has notoriously looked down upon the idea of relationships out of fear of losing herself. But when Devin, the man she is currently seeing, makes her question her beliefs, she starts to get comfortable with shedding parts of herself to let someone in. Throughout the day, she is reminded that growth can sometimes mean leaving behind what you always knew or wanted to make room for the person you were destined to become. When she faces disappointment, it is her best friend Casey who is there for her through her momentary feelings of loss.

TONE AND VISUAL STYLE

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

I HAVE BEEN GHOSTED…

And then dumped…and it SUCKED.

It was September, and I was content with single life – priding myself, even, on never wanting a boyfriend. But then, my disdain for companionship met a brick wall. He was a gorgeous, long-haired, motorcycle-riding, East-Village-loft-dwelling furniture designer. He also happened to have just finished the space for the new hottest bar on the Lower East Side – a fact I stumbled over in Architectural Digest. He was disgustingly ideal. Our first date came and passed like a fever dream, then another, and another, and another. And just like that, I woke up one Monday feeling ready, for the first time in my life, for a relationship. And not just ready – I wanted it. Bad. And he wanted it too. He was all about “intentional dating” and said he was hooked on me.

Then one day, he left for a trip. He kissed me goodbye and made me promise not to fall in love with anyone while he was gone. As his motorcycle sped away, it felt safe to indulge in fantasies about this unexpected future that now seemed so tangible. The things I thought I wanted were about to change, but I was strangely at peace with it. Two weeks went by, and no word from him. I was trapped in a cliché doom loop, knowing what was coming, but powerless to do anything about it. Then one day, the dreaded text arrived. He had met someone on his trip and needed to “see it through with her.” I was hurt, of course, but even more embarrassed that I’d prematurely spread the “I’m about to be in a serious relationship” news all over town. I’d been taken for a ride on his Kawasaki and dropped off at the corner of failure and “I’ll never trust another man again.”

I was deeply crushed, but it was my friends, who sat with me while I reckoned with leaving behind parts of myself as I started to want new things, who were there for me as I mourned a dream that had so suddenly been ripped away. Without their guidance and love, I would be lost. This film is my love letter to them.

xx,

Allegra
